The highest recorded temperature in Susanville was 106 °F (41 °C) in July 1931, and the lowest recorded temperature was −23 °F (−31 °C) on February 1, 1956.
Susanville lies at the junction of California State Routes 36 and 139. Highway 139 heads north to the Oregon border as a direct route to Klamath Falls.
